A day of music at the Boyd Education Centre, Riversdale, is always special… and when it includes two of Woodford Festival’s most loved acts of all time plus one of our region’s finest songwriters, and it is autumn on the Shoalhaven River, then it becomes EXTRA special and it is time to head for the River!
Tinpan Orange’s heavily stylised dark-folk-country music combines the highest levels of song-craft with an aching, sweeping romanticism. Supported by local singer-songwriter Joe Mungovan and legendary percussionist Greg Sheehan.

Tinpan Orange are one of Australia’s most loved brother-sister outfits. With the ethereal and mesmerising Emily Lubitz at the helm, joined by her brother, guitarist Jesse Lubitz and violin virtuoso Alex Burkoy, Tinpan Orange’s heavily stylised dark-folk-country music combines the highest levels of song-craft with an aching, sweeping romanticism.
They have been touring throughout Europe and Australia, with new songs that draw on the trio’s chemistry and create a rarified, naturalistic world, in which the few essential elements have been arranged to perfection. The deep, throbbing tremolo guitar, the shimmering strings, haunting autoharp and the fine threads of Emily Lubitz’s gossamer voice, are the defining components of the band’s sound, never relying on tricks of production but rather the raw, live performances that each band member brings.
Joe Mungovan taught himself guitar and unconsciously developed a style that blends indie folk and pop together to produce his unique style. With attention to articulate lyrics, catchy melodies and rhythmic detail, Joe’s songs express his genuine emotion. His authenticity and passion is conveyed in his intimate live show.
If you have been to Woodford, then you are familiar with Greg Sheehan, one of the most respected and innovative percussionists in Australia. As a performer, teacher and recording artist, he is significantly represented in Australian music over the last 47 years.
