Oura Collective Presents…
Double Headline: New Venusians AND Frank Sultana and the Sinister Kids
$20
The Oura Collective are back this October at The Tea Club in Nowra, and we are excited to announce A DOUBLE HEADLINE SHOW to kick us off…
NEW VENUSIANS: Combining lush harmonies, dirty guitars, cosmic synths and tough drums united with the defiance of classic R’n’B and the swagger of future soul. Lead vocalists Meklit Kibret and Christian Hemara soar effortlessly above thick synth driven grooves, blending both acoustic and electronic sounds. Brainchild of guitarist Ben Panucci, this 7 piece Sydney band, made up of some of Sydney’s finest musicians, blends elements of Jazz, beats, electronica and soul with contemporary influences such as Little Dragon, FKA Twigs and Son Lux.
FRANK SULTANA & THE SINISTER KIDS: With influences ranging from Son House and Skip James, through to Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, as well as more contemporary artists like Tom Waits and Nick Cave, Frank Sultana dwells comfortably in this vintage stylistic world, where the song is still king, and nothing beats a great story… His band, the Sinister Kids, are much like a family of transient musicians. Over the last 12 to 18 months, Frank Sultana and the Sinister Kids have been gaining notoriety as an explosive live act, regularly playing some of the best rooms in Sydney and Melbourne, and have been ‘discovered’ by many a punter, when opening for the likes of the Snowdroppers, Mojo Juju, Brothers Grim, Kira Puru and the Bruise, Graveyard Train, Blackwater Fever and The Fumes amongst others…
