The New Savages play Melbourne Hill Country Blues. A very original mix between the deep delta blues sounds of Mississippi, the raw sexuality of The Doors and the storytelling of Johnny Cash.

They’ll be hosting the Candelo Blues Club Jam and also performing their stage show at the Candelo Hotel on Sunday April 8th. This is one of the many stops around the country on their 45 date National Tour in support of their new single “Brother, I Am Your Keeper” – a rocking blues based on the Old Testament story of Cain and Abel.

One of the hardest working and original bands in Australia, make sure you come down to catch them kick off at 2pm. For more information check out www.thenewsavages.com

They’re kicking off 2018 with a new single, “Brother, I am Your Keeper” and a 45 date national tour from Jan-June, with stops across every state except for NT. Including stops at the “Taste of the Huon” Festival in Ranelagh, Tasmania and Gold Coast’s Blues on Broadbeach.

“Brother, I Am Your Keeper” is an Old Testament blues based on the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis. The single came out of a Sunday session at “Cubcave Studios”, a tin shed that producer Damien Sutton built from scratch in his backyard in Coburg, Melbourne. As with all of their music, this release was recorded as a faithful reproduction of their live sound. This new single marks a step forward in the evolution of Milan’s songwriting, a continuation of his unique ability to inject personal, and poetic storytelling into the archaic folk blues form – all with a solid backbeat that you can dance to.

“Brother, I Am Your Keeper” was recorded at the end of 2017, capping off an extremely busy three years for the band, that saw them play six national tours, and over 250 shows in support of their 3 EPs. Some of their career highlights include a nomination for The Age’s ‘Best Blues Album’, and spending four weeks at #4 on the AMRAP Airit Charts. Always a festival favourite, they’ve had numerous appearances including Port Fairy Folk 2017, St Kilda Fest 2016, Echuca Winter Blues 2017 White Night 2016 & 2017 and many others.

“These guys … they get it. Check ’em out as soon as you are able” – Matt Frederick, PBS 106.7 The Juke Joint

“The New Savages have a love for blues with a thousand-yard stare. They specialise in unearthing lost riffs and giving them a second life in new songs.” – B Mag
