The Heavenly Light Quartet explores and interprets the Black gospel style of the ’40s male quartet – an acapella music tradition that has deeply influenced today’s R&B, soul and pop music. Tony Backhouse, Stuart Davis, William Selwyn and Rob Maxwell Jones are veterans of the Australian vocal scene as in-demand session singers, arrangers and performers.
Expect their twist on the intricate, driving songs of such seminal groups as the Golden Gate Quartet, the Dixie Hummingbirds, the Swan Silvertones, the Spirit of Memphis Quartet, and the Soul Stirrers.
