GARFISH
This group is masterminded by trumpet player Nick Garbett (The Strides & The Vampires) with the intention of recording an authentic sounding instrumental reggae album that would bring a fresh and inspiring sound to the Australian music scene. The album GARFISH – Vol 1 was co-produced by Paulie Bromley(Bobby Alu, George, The Beautiful Girls) and Declan Kelly (DK & the Rising Sun, Bernard Fanning, Diesel ‘n’ Dub) at Bromley’s Tanuki Lounge Studios in Brisbane and released in late 2015. It features a slew of heavyweight musicians helping to flesh out Garbett’s compositions, resulting in a dedicated meditation on the instrumental style pioneered by old world Jamaican masters such as Sly and Robbie, Tommy McCook and The Skatalites.
The live show has taken this sound to a new level, featuring some of Australia’s most creative and groovy musicians stretching out over hypnotic reggae beats with a powerful three-piece horn section carrying catchy melodies you’ll be whistling for days.
