3 powerhouse Australian blues acts are combining and coming to the Illawarra in a night that will be remembered.
Legendary Australian act The Bondi Cigars have been wowing audiences since the 1980s, winning numerous Australian blues awards and are an ARIA nominated band. Apart from the timeless, unpretentious nature of the music, an obvious reason for the longevity of the Cigars must be the ongoing musical team work of 2 foundation members, Shane Pacey and Al Britton, who continue to co-lead the band. This also explains the consistency of the band’s sound, instantly recognisable to all who kick up their heels and rave about what night they have just had.
Tomcat Playground are a festival favourite, playing a traditional American rocking blues, the act has played numerous Australian blues festivals, toured the south of the USA and continues to deliver a traditional brand of blues.
Local legends 500 Pounds of Joy deliver a journey back to the origins of blues from way down in the deep south of the USA, a style of the American 1940s, 50s and 60s. This is a night not to be missed by the real blues enthusiast.
