Benni and The SSS – “Coming Up for Water” EP Launch Party

After their first year of existence Benji and the Saltwater Sound System are gearing up to release their first EP. The band has chosen to hold the launch party at a venue that is ingrained in their history…The Tea Club!
In a fortunate turn of events it has also worked out that far south coast legend Daniel Champagne will be opening the evening. Daniel is an enthralling entertainer who could easily pack the Tea Club out playing is own show. It is a privilege to have him playing alongside Benji and the SSS at such a beautifully intimate venue.
The Coming Up for Water EP and the bands wider music draws upon front man Ben Fowler’s recent 12-month stint living in the remote reaches of the Solomon Islands. Benji and the SSS fuse these pacific flavours with the jazz, reggae, world folk and African roots of its members past musical projects to create hypnotic soundscapes underpinned by painfully catchy melodies. Add to this the beautifully poignant lyrics that Ben has become known for and you can’t help but expect something special from this new line-up.
The artists in Benji and the Saltwater Sound System have had the honour of playing at acclaimed festivals including; Woodford, the National Folk Festival, Summer Sounds, the Dreaming Festival, Granite Town, Peak Festival, Palm Creek, Corinbank, Sydney Blues Festival, and Illawarra Folk Festival just to name a few.
