HomeCrowd Pty Ltd is proud to present a different kind of show to the Nowra audience: “A private evening with Atif and Sako”.

Atif Badria is an extraordinary Syrian-born musician playing the Darbuka, an original Middle Eastern percussion instrument with a single membrane and a goblet-shaped body. Atif started drumming on everything he could find from the age of four. At the age of 15 he started working as a full-time professional musician. Since then he has been playing with many artists in Syria and Australia. Atif also teaches weekly Darbuka drumming classes at the Redfern Community Centre.

Sako Dermenjian is a highly skilled classical guitarist of Armenian heritage who was born and raised in Syria. For nine years, he studied in Damascus with renowned teacher Mazen Al-Saleh. When the war broke out he left Syria at the age of 17, and relocated to Australia. While he is mainly a classical guitar player, Sako Dermenjian also enjoys playing Middle Eastern, jazz, blues and flamenco music.

Atif and Sako have delighted audiences for some time, but this is the first time they’ll be playing together at Nowra.

They will be supported by Jacob Antonio on violin, and April Hudson on cello, from Shoalhaven Strings. Shoalhaven Strings was founded in 2012 by Joanna Landstra and April Hudson, to provide an opportunity for talented and experienced local musicians to perform locally, as well as servicing the needs of the local wedding industry. Their repertoire covers classical and contemporary styles of music.

The Tea Club will open its doors at 6pm, and they will offer delicious dinner specials to complement your BYO drinks.

Tickets are $25pp and can be purchased online from South Coast Tickets, and they will sell fast! No tickets will be sold at the door, so please make sure you buy your tickets soon or you might miss out on this very unique concert.
