With 2018 spent selling out hometown venues and riding the wave of their irresistible summer jam ‘Why You Always Gotta Fight Me’, Wollongong five-piece Ruby Tuesdays are ready and raring to go for another year! Announcing a huge tour from March through into May, Ruby Tuesdays are bringing their acclaimed live performances to venues right up and down the east coast – a bristling new live show for 2019 that can’t be missed.
Upon its November release, ‘Why You Always Gotta Fight Me’ was quick to garner the favour of tastemaker publications and radio alike; it’s insatiable soul-drenched vibes arriving just in time for a hot summer ahead. Born out of sessions on the South Coast, Ruby Tuesdays poured equal amounts of tenderness and evocative energy into their songwriting, with the final result representing some of their most strong and cohesive music yet.
Ruby Tuesdays have been forming a solid reputation for themselves in the eyes of live audiences over the last year as being a formidable live act, in the same league as Ocean Alley, Lime Cordiale and Ziggy Alberts – their songwriting passion and approach to performance has won them packed out venues on the east coast, a reach the band is aiming to expand further into 2019. “For me it feels like this tour has been an eternity in the making. Our shows have been getting bigger and bigger and personally, I think our last few shows have been the best we have ever played. We have some cool new tunes and tricks up our sleeve we can’t wait to get on the road and party with everyone.” Ruby Tuesdays
PRAISE FOR RUBY TUESDAYS
“Lots of charm in the way you deliver this one.”
Triple J Unearthed, Claire Mooney
“The new track cements Ruby Tuesday’s reputation as unpretentious rockers as they cruise our sound waves with their distinct sound of funkadelic playfulness, filled with fusions of colourful riffs, tectonic vocals and heavy grunge breakdowns.”
“‘Why You Always Gotta Fight Me’ is the very definition of a slow burner, with the track gradually building up energy and urgency before breaking out into an impressive crescendo of bluesy guitars. It’s the kind of song you know will go over well live.”
The AU Review
“It’s such an emotional track, with blues and soul influences driving it along to its searing crescendo. I love the way this one builds with crashing percussion, wailing guitars and those ever-more urgent vocals.”
