Join us for a matinee concert of songs and stories in a beautiful 19th century church with international touring singer-songwriters Jasmine Beth and Melanie Horsnell, plus Tidal Moon (VIC), a Celtic-folk-country duo that combines vocals, harp, flute, bodhran and guitar.

Jasmine Beth
Jasmine Beth writes and sings folk tales about sailors, devils, ancient Greek legends, Shakespearean characters and madness. Audiences enjoy her jazzy vocal stylings, stripped back guitar and warm stage presence. She spends most of her time on the road, touring Australia and the UK every year, and was a finalist in the 2014 Australian Songwriting Contest. Please arrive prepared to drink more red wine than really necessary. www.jasminebeth.net

“Her lyrics are authentic and her storytelling is sincere.” – Markos Papadatos, Indie Music Editor, Suite 101.

“Jasmine’s songs ranged through a string of rhythms and meters that spoke honestly, with a sense of the poetic.” – Eric Pozza, Canberra Jazz

Melanie Horsnell
Melanie has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as having a voice of ‘the utmost delicateness’, as a ‘songwriting gem’ by The Australian. Based in Candelo in southern NSW, Melanie has recorded ten albums and EPs including her latest, ‘Song to Sing on a SaturdayNight’. Melanie’s critically acclaimed album The Cloud Appreciation Society was long-listed for the 2013 Australian Music Prize, Quatre Chemins for the 2015 Australian Music Prize, and she was nominated for an APRA award in 2011.

She has toured with Glen Hansard, Jason Mraz, The Frames, Bernard Fanning, Lou Rhodes, Slaid Cleaves and Sarah Blasko among others, as well as touring extensively on her own in Australia and Europe. Melanie recorded an album in French, which was funded by the highly successful Pozible campaign and gave Melanie a six month residency in France, writing songs with poet Alain Rivet and pop icon Helena Noguerra. Melanie has also written songs with Wendy Matthews and Catherine Britt, and for film and television. www.melaniehorsnell.com

Tidal Moon
Tidal Moon is a musical duo from Victoria, armed with harp, flute, guitar and bodhrán. The two arrive in Yass following a sell-out concert at the PAVE Festival (VIC), an appearance at Kernewek Lowender Festival (SA) and an extensive tour with Isobel Blackthorn, author of The Drago Tree. Vocalist, harpist and flautist Barbara Jeffrey has spent the last eight years touring nationally with NSW State Opera Troupe The Ten Sopranos and now brings her extraordinary voice to a Celtic, folk and country repertoire, including both originals and interpretations of classics. Guitarist, percussionist and vocalist Jose Garcia provides gritty, rhythmic accompaniment and harmonies. Whether at cruising speed or full sail, the resulting sounds send out waves upon the fabric of the musical space/time continuum.

“Their collaboration was one of the highlights of the concert. Barbara’s ethereal voice and harp harmonising with Jose’s more earthy voice and guitar created an enchanting presentation. A delight to both eye and ear!” – Erica, Fernlea House
