So&So Present… The Bean Project at Cambewarra Village Hall. Refreshments and drinks available…perhaps a sausage.

From the eastern suburbs of Melbourne come The Bean Project, a vibrant brass-folk quartet blending the raw sounds of folk, jazz and singer-songwriter – most aptly described as ‘the odd marriage of James Taylor and The Cat Empire’.
In 2014 The Bean Project emerged as a duo, making a name for themselves playing locally, touring the east coast, then releasing their debut EP in 2015. The Bean Project were named the Folk Alliance of Australia’s 2016 Artist of the Year and grew into a five-piece, touring nationally and performing at festivals including Port Fairy Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival and Folk Alliance International (USA).

In January 2017, The Bean Project teamed up with David Carr at Rangemaster Studios to record their debut album. The woody, rich, tonal sounds of the steeped timber studio highlighted the vibrant character of the acoustic instrumentation. What resulted is an album that doesn’t add frills to what The Bean Project do, but rather encapsulates the sound of a strong tight band playing well-crafted songs in a beautiful room, letting the music speak for itself. There is beauty in simplicity.

Melbourne’s award winning French-horn clad quartet The Bean Project will be releasing their debut album ‘Naked Trees’ on 22nd June 2017, accompanied by a national tour visiting Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Byron Bay, Brisbane and much in between.
