This is going to be a very special event, so make sure you don’t miss the chance to catch this exciting double bill that brings together two of Australia’s “roots..iest” reggae bands in the intimate setting setting of the Stanwell Park CWA hall. The night will boast a formidable line up of musicians including Declan Kelly, Nick Garbett, James Greening, Andy Bickers, Matt Keegan, Carl Dewhurst, Rob Woolf, Winston Stephenson and Jonathan Pease

GARFISH is masterminded by trumpet player Nick Garbett (co leader of The Strides & The Vampires) and co-produced by Paulie Bromley (Bobby Alu, George, The Beautiful Girls) and Declan Kelly (DK & the Rising Sun, Katie Noonan, Diesel ‘n’ Dub) at Bromley’s Tanuki Lounge Studios in Brisbane with the aim of bringing some home grown “old school” instrumental reggae sounds to the Australian scene.
The album features a slew of heavyweight musicians helping to flesh out Garbett’s compositions, resulting in a dedicated meditation on the instrumental style pioneered by old world Jamaican masters such as Sly and Robbie, Tommy McCook and The Skatalites, just to name a few.

DK & THE RISING SUN
Drawing on Irish and Maori ancestral roots, Declan and current band mates The Rising Sun bring radiant reggae and dub vibes from Sydney, well known for their sinuous live performances of Afro beat and Pacific groove.

They were awarded Best Independent and Unsigned Artist in the blues and roots category at the 2008 Music Oz Awards.

Having been the drummer for numerous great Australian artists, Kelly has studied the craft of good song writing, recording and the delivery of a rockin’ live show. Smiles all round are guaranteed when these guys grace the festival stage.

Children under 10 are free.
